Some surprising choices on the p4k list, especially number one. Heard most of the songs, I think it’s a great mix.

I’m glad Charli XCX has been getting recognition on year end lists but “Boys” isn’t even one of the best songs she released this year

Pretty crazy how narrow the scope of that top 10 songs is. 9 pop songs and King Krule

 

I think it's their most fascinating list in a while. I follow p4k pretty closely and I was still surprised by a good dozen of the choices and/or their placement. I never would have expected Paramore or Charly Bliss to make the list at all, while some songs that seemed guaranteed (Blue Train Lines, Third of May, Forever Young) are missing. I think the top 10 is pretty in line with what they've hyped this year, with the exception of Bodak Yellow being number 1, which shocked me. I expected it on the list, because it's one of those cultural tracks that always makes the list (plus it's great), but never would have pegged it for the top spot. I am very excited to see Charli make it so high up, but I agree it's not her best song this year.

 

I still don’t “get” bodak yellow but that doesn’t seem that surprising p4k would have it #1

Gummy and bagbak back to back is the most lit section of any song of the year list this year

 

It's not even the best Cardi B single that came out this year

It is, but there is stuff on her mixtape (which made my list) from early this year (before Bodak Yellow was a thing) that's better imo, including the single with Offset - "Lick".
