I love Hard Times, a LOT, but I personally don't think the rest of the album keeps up that vibe. Obviously the album's cut from the same cloth, but I only think there's a couple tracks that are as good as HT
I think hard times sucks quite frankly and find most of the other songs way more interesting and not as weird for the sake of being weird.
I definitely like Paramore more now that they're poppier, before Still Into You I wasn't really a fan
I think the “hard times” in the chorus and the way she sings the rock bottom and lightning lines are weird and kill the song for me
I selfishly hope you love it as it has brought me so much joy but also totally get if it's not for ya
Made it through the Fader 101 tracks list (6+ hours!). Some strange choices, especially their number 1 pick. I feel I didn't discover as much through it as last year, but some standouts I hadn't heard/heard only in passing before: Lil Durk - Make it Out Maleek Berry - Been Calling Yung Lean - Red Bottom Sky Julia Michaels - Issues Camila Cabello - Havana Extra love to The Fader for putting this Creek Boyz tracks so high. Been one of my favorites for most of the year and more people need to hear it:
Not specifically a gripe with the Stereogum list, but how do you come to the conclusion that Lorde came out with the best album this year, but that St Vincent was the only other remotely similar artist to put out a top 50 album of the year?
