I'm doing my list and I've got 120+ albums that I genuinely like a good amount.

 

I thought this was a great year in indie. Seems like a ton of the big 00s bands came out with something, and I liked most of them.

Nothing really hit for me in the newer indie rock scene for me this year like Owel did last year and Foxing did the year before.

I also thought this was a particularly strong year in indie pop & radio alternative

 

yeah, my list is super deep. looked shallow at first but i'm easily going to have a fantastic 50 album aoty list

This is the weakest year in 7-8 years for me, personally. SO many albums I really like. But almost no knock-down-drag-out, 5-star classics for me.

 

I kinda agree with this but not fully. This year has had the most albums that I’ve liked, but yeah I agree that few even in my top 20 would I consider a 5 star classic

 

Pretty much my top 5-6 from any other year would be my #1 this year.

But I've still heard so many 8 or 9 out of 10 level albums.

Yeah this year was stupid good. I've got a painfully long list of albums and I've added so much more already with these EOTY lists. In particular, the Independent was great.

 

almost at 200 new albums from this year. gonna have a pretty decent top 50. last year was better, though.

 

It’s about on par with last year for me. Maybe not as many albums I really love, but probably more I really, really like. My top 10 is less clear to me than ever before because there are so many albums I can make the argument for, but fewer no brainers.

 

especially after the whole pinegrove thing last year doesn't look close to as good as this one right now

 

pinegrove makes up 2% of my 2016 top 50 so i still feel confident in saying 2016 > 2017

 

My preliminary top 50 last year was like 60, this year it's 120 and I haven't even listened to a lot of the Big ones on lists like SZA, Riff Raff, etc..

 

lol whatever creepy/abusive/horrible shit Evan did doesn't mean Cardinal isn't a great album.

 

Last year was dope as hell. Coloring Book, Goodness, Cardinal, 22 A Million, We Got it From Here, In Oblivion, Worry, Freetown Sound etc. etc. etc.

If you view any year as a "bad" year you either haven't listened to enough music or have very limited taste. I don't have any album this year that hit me like a few from previous years, but there are still fantastic albums.

It was a weird year for movies and democracy but so many of my favorite artists released albums this year
