Quietus is usually good at giving me a bunch I hadn't heard yet. Gorilla vs. Bear too when it drops. 4rk list actually has a lot of deep cuts that I haven't heard yet. Great that Nala Sinephro is getting so much love
I feel like The Quietus list is consistently the one every year that has the most albums by bands that sound made up.
Fascinating how many albums got BNM but didn't make the list, and how many made the list without getting BNM
Gave this a spin today and I'm mostly with you guys on it. Liked some of the guitar parts, but I just can't get on board with the vocals.
I played M M M earlier for my students and prefaced it by saying I genuinely don't get it and I actually liked it more than when I played it yesterday, haha. Still not for me.
This Clairo album has some good tracks on it. Idk if she'll ever top "Bags" for me but I like Juna a lot
Absolutely loving this Mabe Fratti album. For fans of ML Buch, How to Dress Well, and such - but Guatemalan! Vidrio from last year was also gorgeous. I need to dig deeper into her stuff.
oh wow, loved nala's space 1.8, completely missed the new one. hence, why catching up in dec/jan is one of my favorite times of the year, as a music listener. there's always at least like 5 albums I grow to love that I missed.
Nala will def make my list, such a great album. As will Wild Pink, Yasmin Williams, Fievel is Glauque, Chief Keef... all those are locked down. I'm def gonna add that Mabe Fratti after giving it a few more listens. playing some catchup the rest of the week
This Brama album from The Quietus list fucking rocks. Experimental post-punk from central France. Idk what to call it but it bumps
I’m not sure how this makes sense squared with their top 100 albums of the year but The 30 Best Rock Albums of 2024
