i mean not really...it's a pretty boring list with a lot of weird, weird things don't feel there's a strong bias towards NME here
i feel like this contradicts itself regardless, I'm mainly saying that because it's probably one of the only lists that will have the 1975 prominently featured. most of the other stuff in the top 10 of this that prob won't be on every other list (like diiv and christine and the queens) I think were pretty well received here too.
i mean by weird i mean things like drake, kings of leon, green day etc, records by big bands that just aren't good but because they're big bands, ya kno
haha yeah I gotcha -- p sure I just scrolled past those. seeing names like Glass Animals and Blossoms that wouldn't ever show up on a strereogum or p4k list was nice though
KoL and Green Day albums are both good career records. Not likely to crack a top list of mine, but good
Can't believe any publication would drop an end of year list this early. Being ahead of the curve doesn't really work when you miss the destination. I mean Starboy only just dropped, and was one of the most hyped releases of the year. You don't even want to listen to it before making your list? Tribe Called Quest come out with a late rap AOTY contender, you don't want to wait for that? It seems NME likely even made its list pre-Cohen's You Want It Darker.
Rolling Stone's list 50 Best Albums of 2016 Consequence of Sound's list https://www.google.com/amp/conseque...albums-of-2016/amp/?client=ms-android-verizon
uh oh. edit: okay the rolling stone list is actually pretty good, much better than the NME list, but what the hell? new rolling stones record in the top 10? lol c'mon it's your namesake but still
Rolling Stone's list is, for the most part, surprisingly solid. Happy to see Maren Morris up that high.
The Top 10 Best Albums of 2016 this list is very good too. awesome to see so many women and people of color on such a mainstream list
