have you all not noticed that their genre category has been "pop/r&b" all year since they introduced the tags
I did and it's annoying as shit because I don't care about the new album by white duo Nr. 22 from New England, but I have to read a few sentences to find out if it's them
Those Stereogum lists are awesome, Chris and Grace's are my favorite. Love seeing so much White Lung on there
i dunno, i think its easy to understand why they're grouped together. like what else do you do with someone like adele? white soul singer that is massively popular. is she r&b? or pop? or both?
She's in the same category as Celine Dion, I call it "Whitney Houston Alternatives For People That Are Afraid Of Black People", or "White People Singing Very Loudly To Make It Seem Soulful". It's tedious though so people lump it under Pop/R&B. No shots fired at Adele fans.
I don't think that's it because it seems a good amount that appeared on both rap and pop list will end up on their final list
Yeah that's essentially what I was getting at. I'm fine with genre lists, but if it's just the same critically acclaimed albums over and over what's the point
several records i think are not good records on that list but it's really wild to see some of those bands get very high rankings on a pretty big publication
well, it's usa today so i dont think people will really care and it looks like that list was just a single person's, still cool if jeff gets any extra attention or cash from it
