Cymbals Eat Guitars are okay. I can't really get behind the dude's voice

 

the first time i listened to cymbals ever i thought he sounded like craig owens (this in the lose release period)

luckily i don't hear that anymore

 

I'm not a fan of the strained affectation he puts on throughout most of the album. Some of the songs are cool

 

It's pretty easy for me to get past imperfect voices, it has to be egregiously bad for a voice to completely turn me off to a band. As far as cymbals goes, he's fine and I never got the complaints people had

 

joe's voice is one of my favorite things about the band, especially on songs like dancing days

I'm not completely turned off to them, I just didn't enjoy it that much on first listen

 

TBS will likely make my top 10. Cymbals will prob make my 30. So much good music this year.

 

Glad that Huerco S album is getting some love too. Bleep had a large electronic/ambient representation on their list

This is great. So much amazing stuff that's gone under the radar bc of the short form release. Braids is especially nice to see. Seems like no one even knows they released anything this year. Plus serpentwithfeet, Vince, Sheer Mag, GLOSS, Charli, Moses Sumney and Majical Cloudz are all fantastic.

 

They are an electronic music shop after all. Was disappointed with only ten inclusions but I guess that was probably to keep the CD bundle affordable

 

I totally forgot Porches was this year lol
