I listened to a lot more this year than I have the past couple years. Not looking forward to figuring that all out
i mean none of these publications really matter culturally in music but hey, figured maybe someone would be interested, haha
https://www.google.com/amp/pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/22514-you-want-it-darker/amp/?client=safari Best New Music 4 from Rolling Stone I could post link after link of publications throwing around words like "masterpiece" in their reviews long before he passed. Just because he wasn't talked about on chorus.fm doesn't mean it wasn't talked about everywhere else
They're two different albums by completely different artists the only thing they have in common is their creators are dead. Why even make that comparison? No one is giving Cohens album a pity vote he's a critically acclaimed musician.
You Want it Darker has a 92 on Metacritic out of 25 reviews. It didn't get as much talk as Blackstar, but it was definitely a very well-received album.
seriously though, what surprise release is coming to come through this year and fuck up all the dummies who don't wait for an end of year list?
Had no idea there was a new DJ Shadow album, will have to give that a listen! Also, the new MIA album is not good at all, surprised to see it pop up on a list, massive letdown considering how unbelievable Matangi is.
yeah, you never heard that song with run the jewels? it got pretty big it...sounds like a run the jewels song, haha
Na must have missed it. Not a particularly big fan of Run the Jewels though, to be honest. Still, I'll try and find time to check out the album.
There is no good albums coming out in December, I will formulate my list this weekend. Not too early in my opinion.
