I'm always in the minority but I really don't like music like this. It's agitating to my ears. I can usually find value in any genre of music but this post-punk stuff does nothing for me. Someone tell me what they find enjoyable about this.
It's dense yet witty and approachable, dissonant while still being melodic and often surprisingly pretty. I don't listen to much in this vein but I don't find it to be inaccessible at all, they are probably the most celebrated and widely loved band in this style currently. It's cool that you're not into it, but asking why someone would like it is a pretty weird question
Only listened twice so far but I already know I'm gonna love it. The drumming on it is so good and while it's always been good on previous stuff, I feel like it's super distinct on so many songs. They just sound even tighter now.
Have you tried this yet though!? Not saying you'll like it but I feel like if you were to like anything from them it'd be this
This exactly. I am very new to Protomartyr but heard "Three Swallows" and was hooked. I find it to be one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard against the noise. "Violent," too.
Just got the only copy at my shop and it has a really cool black and white illustrated lyric book that is basically a zine, worth the purchase
The more into post-punk I get the more apparent it is that this is one of the best bands going Gotta listen to that reissue
