well, in bummer news for US fans, the band announced they're unable to play any US dates for the foreseeable future. this is the update I was dreading as things started escalating here. sigh. so stoked for the new album to drop though.
yeah for sure there’s a concern about being detained if they can even get visas. i think since they’ve been so vocally opposed to the US for a long time, would be a dangerous move
The ignorant comments on their Facebook post accusing them of "whining" or "punishing US fans" has sent me over the edge this morning. I'm glad they are prioritizing their safety, and I'm glad we at least get a new album tomorrow.
if anything it’s a protest and definitely based on the political climate a wise move. psyched for the new album, too. if you’re a fan and were going to one of the US shows, buy some merch instead.
The LP is getting delivered tomorrow. Stoked. I held off on buying merch because I figured I would do that at Fest in October. Big bummer. It is what it is, but what “it” is really sucks. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact we now live in a country where it is not safe for artists to perform or for people to travel if they have not explicitly rubber-stamped the de-facto regime.
I have no doubt that it is. I think it’s less of a “protest” on their part and more a matter of visas and legitimate safety concerns, because the ultimate protest would be singing their songs on US soil.
Seriously though, people outside of the US should not come to the US while this current administration is in power. It is genuinely dangerous to visit here currently, good on them for prioritizing their safety.
definitely not if you’ve ever said anything bad about the gestapo … uhh i mean current administration
Album is very good. definitely a more consistently melancholic register than we've heard from them before, but the riffs haven't gone anywhere.
The main riff on the opener Guiding Lights is a thing of utter beauty. I'm very excited to finally begin my Propagandhi journey here.
