Just learned Sign of the Times is a Harry Styles song. I don't think I'd heard it before this movie and now I'm obsessed. Great song.
in terms of the amount of suspension of disbelief required for this movie the aging thing doesn’t even register
Saw on Saturday, liked it a lot! Review for my Substack: 'Project Hail Mary' Review: 'Cause we need each other, we believe in one another
this was a very good, wholesome, fun time at the movies. loved almost everything, shoutout milana, shoutout harry styles. felt like it could have been a half hour shorter but i'm hardly going to bother worrying about that. would love to try and catch this in 70mm in NYC but the goddamn mario movie is taking over next weekend.
Saw Project Hail Mary yesterday and it was absolutely brilliant, definitely a fun time at the movies!
I was crying as soon as the movie started because I haven't really had the experience before of seeing one of my favorite books come to life (books mean a lot to me). I'm going to be a mess the first time I see the Mistborn movie and I may never stop crying once the Stormlight Archive show comes out.
can't stop thinking about that scene on the hull of the ship where he sees the full colour spectrum of the astrophages. insane
How about the one where he’s just chilling on the side of the spaceship looking at Astrid, then playfully re-entering the ship with the box
Saw it in IMAX earlier today. 10/10. Incredible experience/movie. never read the book. Didn’t even watch the full trailer to avoid any “twist” spoilers since I read that the trailer did that. I honestly don’t know what the “big twist” in the book is. Rocky? crying in a few spots. And clutching my chest during the big space walk stress scene. (bought the book at the Barns & Noble across the street after the movie)
Rocky was absolutely the twist in the book. The fact that he met an alien was never disclosed in any material ahead of the book release and when I got to that chapter I was literally shaking out of excitement because there was no notion of that being a part of the book up until that point.
Ok cool. I figured it was rocky. I guess I’ll never get to have that little experience. But, movie was a 10/10 anyway. Once you see the space ship, and then up close, you kind of expect something. Honestly, I wouldn’t have even known he was in there going into the movie before a week ago. I told one of my peers at work I bought tickets and he said “oh cool the movie with the rock alien in it”. -_-
Yeah, obviously I understand why they're featuring Rocky so much since he's the co star of the movie, but the reveal of him in the book was amazing and I'm bummed movie people didn't get to experience that.
I was on my phone when I saw the trailer a long time ago in theaters and I don’t watch TV or commercials so I got to experience purity and surprise.
I had no idea what the movie was about beforehand except Ryan gosling in space. And that it was a book of course cause I know a lot of fans, including my bf who I saw it with We saw it together opening night with lots of other book fans which was fun. People were super into it and laughing along and clapped at the end which I didn't know was an actual thing that happened! We saw it again to take my 12 yr old nephew and he also didn't know anything about it and loved it. The twist for him was he thought the alien would be a bad guy. Twist for me is that a man as attractive as Ryan gosling could be a middle school teacher and it wouldn't cause complete pandemonium
Several of my friends sing the praises of the audio book. Idk what I want to do next: read the book or listen to the book with apparently an amazing narrator.
My bf listened to the audiobook and loved it. We can't keep copies on the shelves at the bookstore I work at, even before the movie. So my guess is there's no wrong answer! I def plan to snag a copy the next time we get one in at my store cause libby holds are crazy long
