Way, way more in that trailer than I would want to see if I hadn't read the book, but Gosling seems like a great fit for this.
Begging Hollywood to stop giving away every plot point of a movie in a trailer. This movie sells itself without showing half of that trailer.
That trailer looks great but man they really couldn't hold back on the alien drop. Where that hits in the book is one of the highlights of the whole damn novel.
I thought they’d only hint at it in the trailer, not just explicitly show/say it. It’s a bummer but I think they needed to. his ship looks sick though
I thought the trailer was solid but the whole time I was thinking that it's not really showing off why the book is so great. I think you need to show that if you want people to be interested I would've cut it when you see his ship, that would've been enough I think
I kind of get it, as much as I don't like it. There was a lot of similar conversation around the marketing of Abigail last year. I assume there's some data showing that audiences don't want to be surprised about the type of movie that they're seeing (a straight crime thriller in the trailer that turns supernatural/horror in the second act, for example). And at the same time, if you don't market the wilder genre stuff, the audiences who actually want to see the horror/sci-fi movies won't show up.
Everyone being like god I hope they don’t ruin the HUGE MASSIVE SURPRISE is more annoying than whatever potential spoiler may have been revealed in that trailer. Movie looks cool tho.
I am a believer in the films of Lord & Miller so I am excited for this (Not sure about them as people but whatever i like the end product)
I literally yelled out loud, "go meet the alien, bro!" It was so hype. But I agree it's gonna put more butts in seats to know the type of movie they're seeing.
Based on the evidence presented, Justin Kroll of Deadline is most likely referencing this movie. It is close to finished, and it could be very good.
Just finished the book. God I fucking hope they pull it off. If they do it’ll be one fucking hell a movie. I don’t read as many books as I’d like but this is gonna stick with me for a while
Pumped for this, but Spring is kind of an odd release for this, no? Especially if they're hoping for awards?
