Just heard this on Metalbirb’s channel last night. I generally find him corny, but decent at recc’ing new music, and He absolutely nailed this one. Hype is entirely warranted, can’t wait for the EP.

Listened to that Blackshape single again, and I got huge progmetal Dredg vibes. Dredg were so cool.

It’s funny you mentioned Dredg. I was thinking about them today for who knows why and was depressed by the thought that a new album is never actually going to happen. I can’t believe how hard they fell off after Catch Without Arms.

I actually listened to the first song on that album after I posted, and realized Terry Date of Deftones fame produced. There’s definitely some magic on that album that never got recaptured unfortunately.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Pariah is incredible though, they fell off several cliffs after that haha

  7. I still believe it'll happen eventually. Just happy Mark is still busy with Black Map even if it's not the same thing

This rules. I'm reading that Matt Goldman worked on their debut... I'm intrigued (wish Underoath would go back with him)

Crazy, this is some people’s version of Chinese Democracy, lol. They’re older stuff never fully clicked for me but these singles are great, I’m looking forward to it.

  12. Almost as long as the gap between the last two Tool albums then? Crazy but relieved it's finally coming out

This band is my favorite new prog discovery this year. Very progmetal in the vein of Leprous, Vola, Caligula's Horse. Super tight structures and really well written melodies, with ultra slick production. Mostly clean vocals. Highly, highly recommended from me.

oh cool that's finally out. I liked the first single they released a year ago but then checked out when I realized they were all going to be on the album

I should've done that, I wore out 6 of the 7 (!) singles, so this is more like a compilation with 4 new songs to me. I get it though, they're a new band, and really had to push singles to try and get some momentum built for the release.

since there's no dedicated thread I could find for em I guess I'll post here that I've been on a huge King Crimson kick recently. tried to get into them in high school and bounced right off but it all clicked recently and I'm obsessed now

Larks Tongues in Aspic might be my favourite at the moment, heater after heater on that album
