Damn I missed this thread. JJ is the only thing I've heard by them but it's one of my favorite new discoveries of the year.
their presence basically radiates through the entirety of dc indie rock/punk music, members are in a bunch of bands and put out a bunch of other releases on sister polygon (including this really great snail mail EP)
They're 3 for 3 on these tracks. But it seems like the sound they went for on JJ will be an outlier, which kinda bums me out since I think it's the most interesting direction of the three.
Blown away by this. Somehow better than my lofty expectations. It hits that perfect spot between tightening up on the sound of their older stuff, while bringing in a whole new level of experimentation. Love the use of sax on the opener and closer, which are probably my two favorites alongside JJ.
Of all the great releases dropping on Friday, I think I might actually be most excited to listen to this one (which is saying something as I've been anticipating that Sinai Vessel full length for over a year)
yes really cool seeing a lot of local music get some hype this year, between this band, the obsessives, snail mail is starting to get bigger...
Yes! And then go see them at Silver Dollar on Feb. 7. This is pretty much all I listened to/wanted to listen to all weekend.
wasn't mad into the one song i listened to on spotify but hopefully the full thing is a great experience.
this is WILD. so into it. sadly i play DnD on tuesdays so doubt I can make that silver dollar show :(
