fka viet cong, really eerie post-punk stuff, last record was excellent

Does the band name change really do anything if every article I've seen about this says "fka Viet Cong" in the headline?

The announcement just happened, so no one knows otherwise. You've got to give people time to recognize the new name.

 

Are these guys that big? I've not really followed them besides listening to their last album a few times but they're playing the same venue in Toronto that Courtney Barnett, CHVRCHES, Kaytranada and Skepta sold out. Think it's like a 1200.

 

I mean, the last record was pretty universally acclaimed, but yeah, the idea of them playing the same venue as CHVRCHES seems insane to me.

well... I think Women had a sort of cult following and then the VC album put them in a brighter spotlight, so yeah...

loved the last album, let's see what this brings

loved the vietcong record. glad they changed the name so we can focus on the music now. that being said, the single did nothing for me.

 

the debut ruled. hopefully this does as well.

Agreed. I think there are certain situation where a label or related band someone is in is pretty crucial to put in the title. Can't be that big of an eyesore, can it?

didn't know there were set in stone rules for thread titles with zero leeway, that's v dumb. obviously it can be good to have everyone try and follow a set format but there shouldn't be a single person deciding that format and changing thread titles accordingly

 

Finally got around to listening to the single. Did not enjoy one bit.

 

I like this new song quite a bit.
