I thought this achieved the intention of it's pitch very well. I don't know what some of you were expecting with the plot/tone unless you went into this 100% blind

My only criticism was some of the CGI was ehh

I actually thought the CGI looked pretty good in this, haha, especially the up close shots. Or maybe it was just my IMAX screen, haha

But yeah, really dug this. Bit skeptical of the lighter tone at first, but came to really like it. Bud was a great addition. Really curious to see where Dan takes the franchise from here.

I think Dan could do a great Star Wars film

Fun bit to call Genna a death planet and literally everything wants to kill you

I like the switchup of the predator trope where the predator being the one who learns to adapt and use his smarts to defeat a human created enemy

The big fight on Genna was sick as fuck

Killer of Killers made me have false hope that Midthunder and the other characters introduced in that would show up in this at some point. Maybe the third one if it happens.

My guess is next in the trilogy will be a huge mashup of past characters and concepts from previous Predator films (using the plot device introduced in Killer Of Killers), and after that it will culminate in a new AvP movie.

Did anyone else know that they added extra bits to Killer Of Killers? Schwarzenegger and Glover's characters are among the others.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

yeah I went into this blind which is 99% of the time the correct move these days. didn't do this movie any favours because I was expecting something more like Prey or just a good movie and got the Predalorian instead lol

I think when you start with the Predator itself as the protagonist that's going to fundamentally change the dynamic of whatever story is being told.

It's so funny to me reading the lukewarm reception in this thread when this is getting such positive reviews from critics. It makes me wonder more why this film is getting such positive feedback. Is it just the novelty of the premise?

it's a super cool spin on the premise and you could absolutely make a dope movie out of it. I think I would have rather it look like a really intense Primal kinda gritty movie not this tone. maybe it's a small sample size but when Dek was waving the gun around shooting like it was Die Hard you could just feel the energy in my cinema dissipating

I mean I get the tone shift when Trachtenberg mentioned T2. Terminator was a full on sci-fi horror movie basically. T2 made it a more mainstream action flick, added a cute kid with funny quips, made it more friendly for wider audience, turned the antagonist to the protagonist. A T2 thing is what he was going for.
