I'm still pretty excited, watched almost the whole franchise this week. Predators held up way better than I expected, extremely dumb movie but so fun

 

The Disnification comments have me concerned, I'm not going to lie

 

Does it feel “fan-service-y” to you? Or does it feel pretty natural as like, if this is a universe where those other things exist, this is a story that could happen there.

Also, are the robot ladies as cool as I expect them to be.

 

Tim wants to know if they have to decide which fanservice to have that they make the right choice.

 

felt like they laid in on a little thick at first, but it didn't seem too much like they were square-pegging it. at least not from where i stood. and the elle fanning synthetics are alright, i'd say. one of them may get annoying after a while for some.

 

ok yeah this was a whiff for me as a big Predator freak lmao. potentially cool setup but the Marvel ass humour and the really obvious "we need a cute little guy" Mandalorian chasing completely derail it. Elle Fanning is great but barely in the last like 30 minutes despite playing two characters

This was really fun but it was absolutely a kids/MCU vibe.

 

Man, I wanted this to not be true. But yeah, it was not very good. I think Elle was in this longer than 30 minutes though.

 

Wild to see so many positive reviews and then read reactions in this thread. Raygun from Chat Pile said in his LB review that he walked out.

I think it all comes down to what you were hoping to get out of this. It very much felt to me like “What if the Predator was a Mandalorian episode?” And that’s just not something I’m really into. I much prefer a more basic OG or “Prey” movie that’s not jamming IP in. The craft is still there. It’s a movie that has some good ideas and cool creations. I just wasn’t on board with it after a certain point.

But I do understand why people would like this. 13-year-old me would have loved this.

 

Really wanted to catch this in theaters, but maybe I'll see Bugonia this weekend instead

Definitely see it one of the premium theaters. I saw it in Dolby and the seats were rattling with every roar. It was loud as hell.
