I've had this worry since the second single and reading what some people have said but after listening to clips of the other songs I feel a bit better, sounds like they still have some of that twinkly/post rock style in there which is what I think they do best. I love North Lynx, enjoy Greyhound a good amount, still not sold on Rooftops but I'm hopeful for the rest
Leopard's Paw is my early favorite. I love the part toward the end of the song that they used in the album teaser. I do wish there were more chilled out instrumental moments but I'm happy with this on first listen.
Since the three singles have been major growers for me, I won't really have a concrete opinion on where the album stands until at least a few more listens, what I do know is the first three tracks are a great way to open the album. My initial standouts aside from the singles are Hawk in my Head, Short Stem, Leopards Paw and the closer. Also get the feeling these songs are gonna be huge live and will increase appreciation of these songs big time
this album is going to be way more upbeat than Kingfisher... the production is also way rawer but it works well with the genre
I hope this grows on me, I'm not really loving it right now. It took kingfisher a long time to really hit but this seems to be missing aspects that album had.
I don't want to solidify any thoughts until I've heard it at least in full 3-4 times. I think there were a ton of really cool moments, so I need to give it a few listens to settle on me.
After two listens I am enjoying it more than I originally did, I think i wanted more slow burners but its really good and the "faster" songs all have nice dynamics. I just really love this band when they slow things down
For some reason I chose to have my first listen on my phone speaker just to get familiar with it, gonna throw the headphones on for listen two
you are the second person this week who told me they did this, I don't get that at all haha.. I feel like thats the worst way to listen to an album especially the first time.
Oh it's terrible hahah, it's mostly because I wasn't ready to get out of bed but I'm just gonna believe I did it to make the listen on headphones more rewarding when it happens so I don't feel dumb
