just getting into this band and want to go see them live ? what are some of their best songs ?

 

thank you ! they are headlinin in my area in a few weeks, but looking at recent setlists , is it correct that they only play about 11 songs ? show is only $10

 

yeah, small emo bands even headlining don't play more than 45 minute generally

The song that got me into them. I played it on my college radio show a few times thinking “the sails are slashed, we’re fucked for sure” was “the sails are slashed, we’re far from shore” hahaha.

 

45 minutes to an hour for an emo band?? Why is that the norm??? Just curious guys

 

They're used to playing in basements where certain factors make that a good max time (number of bands, noise complaints, work the next day, w/e)

 

yup basically. these bands all play like 25-30 minute sets until they've exceeded the scene. i've never seen the hotelier play for more than an hour

 

Yeah, which is getting increasingly frustrating in their case as they continue to rack up good songs, or for a band like TWIABP who has a bunch of long songs as some of their best work. But at least it's always a good time and no lulls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cant decide if i want to go see them in a couple of weeks. Anyone seen their live shows? I just own
their new ablum and really like it.

 

they're really great live, their drummer rules. some of the songs are harder to do as a four piece but that's why they made the new album like this. and they've just gotten better over time too.

Definitely go, they’ve been absolutely insane all but one time out of the 4 times I’ve seen them, including in this tour

So i ended up going to the show. I thought it was really good, they opened with north lynx which i love.

Now my concerns, this was about a 300 seat venue, and i counted and there was literally only 42 people there, thats including the other bands on the bill who were in there standing after they performed ? Is this normal??? I was in shock, I mean it was almost empty! How do these bands survive. No one went up and bought and merch after. This was in oklahoma city.

Also, they literally played 9 songs, for abouit 40 minutes and that was it , and they were the headliner? Just not used to shows like this. Is this the norm for attendane and set times??
