I listened again today for the first time in a month and I’m still lukewarm. Seeing these songs live will be what makes or breaks this album for me. can’t wait to see the boys then
I told my sister who was previously indifferent to this band to listen to this album, and she loves it.
I'm only about halfway through my first listen, but this is tight so far. I love North Lynx and Cricket In The Ward. EDIT: Got through my first listen and I'm about this. I definitely prefer Kingfisher and I miss the strings/horns, but there is plenty to enjoy about this album. I think the back half is practically lights out
Yeah this is really good. Still need to spend more time on it. I think it's funny people always mention Yip with bad production/mix , but Kingfisher sounds incredible. This is like a more positive Kingfisher.
Greg Dunn produced Kingfisher. Yip only produced the songs Prawn contributed to their split with MovMou
I listened to this in the car for the first time and remember virtually nothing about it. So, not as good as Kingfisher. Idk, time will tell I guess
I feel like it’s really missing the mov mou influence. If I was new to this band. I’d assume this album came before kingfisher. Kinda bummed so far.
After spending the weekend with this album I'm ready to say I think this is a step up from Kingfisher.
Oh mannn, this is something I take seriously because of Kingfisher's importance to me but after a really enjoyable listen last night, I might be getting there myself..
i just dont feel like i'm in the right headspace to be receptive to this rn. 3 times through and remember next to nothing. i'mma have to wait a while and come back.
album still rules, yeah. so many fun little vocal hooks and melodies. possibly my favourite release of theirs
a bit colder weather today and this is working wonders Rooftops still sucks but the rest is great!! haha can say they pulled off the more concise songwriting wonderfuly and the two or three post rockish moments work effectively in creating exciting moments who knew pop punk + post rock would work this good I guess almost everything works when the songwriting is there
