i don't really like voodoo donuts. went to the one in denver and was like "the donuts at my local grocery store taste better than this". if you're in portland or la, go to blue star. they're absolutely incredible.
Yeah, a lot of donut places are too extra now. Like, they'll add fruit loops and stuff and it's new, I guess, but it's really not that good. Gimme a well made chocolate old fashioned.
trendy donut places in my experience aren't as good as the no name places in shopping centers next to grocery stores etc
I went to the one in Denver and I was very high when I was there and then later I ate the donuts and I was also very high then and I thought they were incredible. I don’t usually like cake donuts but that Marshall Mathers donut was probably my favorite. it was unreal. yeah, it’s hipster bullshit but they do have some quality stuff as an aside: there’s nothing funnier than seeing a middle-aged man in that place amongst a sea of hipsters, just looking around like wtf is this shit
Bob's Donuts in SF. It's a small 24/7 donut place I used to go to, usually after a night of drinking. They keep things simple but they're the best donuts I've ever had. Their cake donuts are amazing too tbh
This is true so given its voodoo's best donut is v telling about the mediocrity of their donuts in general That being said I still buy them sometimes and bring them into work because people appreciate the novelty and then they like me more.
donuts just aren't my favorite pastry outside of like churros, I feel like they're the easiest to be meh and stale
I Love donuts honestly. Even tho I feel like they're kinda objectively too sugary and gross. Don't care love them.
Yeah donuts are great. If someone brings them to the office there's always a ton of leftovers because people have discipline and I end up having to eat like 4+
Donuts are like probably my favorite food so yeah Voodoo was just okay but I think that they were the first trendy place and that’s why it’s hyled up so much. Now that trendy donuts are more popular I’ve had much better ones that are the same style. My favorite donuts I’ve had are a local mini donuts place, the kind where they dip them and custom make them for you. But out of all the mini donut places I’ve tried that’s one is by farrrrr the best Great now I want donuts
yeah yeah i know this is technically cake, but this place rules. there's one near my office in atlanta. Home - Da Vinci's Donuts
Channel this resentment into some baller art What day were you at Universal? I went y’know hHN on sunday.
Only got the dirt donut because I was gonna have one then and left Florida today and didn’t think they would travel well lol. I thought it was really good, I liked it a lot. Probably one of the best donuts I’ve ever had. Only places I have around is dunkin or tims and those are meh or local grocery stores which aren’t that good either IMO
I'm partial to giant apple fritters. Also, I thought this convo was happening in the food thread for a sec.
Went to Donut Friend a couple weeks ago. The old fashioned was solid, the fritter was next level good, and the Thrice themed Thrice Crispy was easily the worst of the bunch. Not bad just kinda eh.
