New album from KAUAN dropped yesterday. Haven't seen them discussed much on this website, but they are metal legends that have been going for 20 years and slowly incorporating a contemplative post-rock sound in to their more recent albums. This new one seems like a perfect winter album.

In lieu of a proper review from myself, I'll share my wife's feedback after we listened to the album in full:

"It's very pretty at times. I feel like it could be the soundtrack to me walking in an icy forest or looking out over some beautiful snow-capped vista. But then I get jumpscared by some ancient demon that is cursing me in a language I can't understand. I like it."

Realistically I'm expecting it to just be an official release of A Few Good Years Left or whatever the hell it was called + live debuting some stuff they've been working on. Which I'll absolutely take.

Yeah I'm a little baffled by this too. You'd expect a proper press release or something explaining it. I only really pieced it together in the Instagram comments. Regardless, it should result in good music so whatever works for them I guess.

    Post-metal/sludge from Berkshire, England

Self-released in June, picked up by Big Scary Monsters and rereleased Feb 20th. Second album next year. Oppressively heavy yet cathartic and deeply affecting.

    Thanks for sharing @Carrow

I'm surprised on how I managed to miss this when it was released. What an intense record!
