I've finally been in a post-rock mood lately and have been going back through this thread. Wow what a fun band this is. I absolutely love this Whales Song from their earlier album too.
Forgot to post this back when it came out a few months ago, but my friend TJ's new solo post rock project is really cool.
Return to Zion - Burdened with Glorious Purpose Epic, neo-classical, desert/art-rock-ish. Like a more experimental Ranges with strings.
Revisiting this album which, along with This Will Destroy You, was my gateway into post-rock back in the day. It mixes it with folk, chamber pop and indie rock. It got turned into an abridged EP when it was re-released, which is the only version that seems to exist on streaming services, sadly. The three additional songs from the original version are gold as well, with Tsietsi reminding me of Sigur Ros in retrospect Pig Food The Fall of Man Tsietsi
Getting an announcement of some kind from Maybeshewill on Monday. They also said ArcTanGent would be getting a sneak peek this weekend, so presumably it's new music. It fucking better be new music.
They're playing a 20th anniversary show with an orchestral ensemble. Which is cool but also goddammit.
Quoting my own post to say this album is tremendous. Wasn't crazy about it at the time of posting, but it grew on me greatly after a couple more listens and hoo boy.
Amber Ambedo - Rowan Piano-led, arty, orchestral. Featuring former member(s? - maybe just one member, idk) of now-defunct jazzy post-rockers Long Hallways. Album out Sept. 19th.
Skews a little more soundtracky as you'd expect but the album 65daysofstatic made with Paul Weir is out today and it's fuckin' beautiful
This is so good, and I highly encourage you to read the artist statement about the meaning behind the album.
Math rock/post-rock band from the west of Ireland (semi-local to me) just dropped their debut album FFO Richter Collective stable, ASIWYFA, 2010s Topshelf Records stuff etc.
Anyone want to post their top 5 post-rock records for 2025 this year? It's harder for me to keep up nowadays so I'd appreciate it I need to get to that Adebiski Shank EP asap
aswekeepsearching - kyun? Return to Zion - Burdened with Glorious Purpose BRUIT - The Age of Ephemerality Myriad Drone - A World Without Us Autumn Creatures - Doomsday Fantasy (EP)
