New project from Kristian Dunn of El Ten Eleven and Damon Che of Don Caballero with some guest string parts by Kishi Bashi and Macie Steward of Finom:
@White Quick chat with Stevie before tonight'd O,TA show reveals a repress of Learning to Growl is in the works with NWfA. New record takes priority but They're Doing It
SO THEY PLAYED A NEW SONG It's called (I've Got) A Few Years Left. Didn't get to ask what the deal was but it's excellent.
Niche! I saw these guys play a tiny basement stage a few years ago at Portals Festival in London. I'd forgotten I wanted to check them out following that show, so this is a very welcome recommendation!
New project from Jeremy Galdino and Raymond Brown, the founding members of This Will Destroy You: Album out February 28th
Considering TWDY as a studio band is likely done, I wondered which of the two factions would produce an album first. There's my answer.
I need to visit this thread more. Doing some catchup and loved the Thought Trials album. Overhead the Albatross is great but I’m into the more subdued shit lately. Need to check Glories. Hexcut and To Life both sound up my alley. I loved this one from this year, also an art-rock, jazzy post-rock-adjacent vibe.
This is fucking dope. I love this adventurous side of post-rock that verges on jazz-fusion at times. If anyone has other similar recs, please share!
Don't know if either of these are enough in the same wheelhouse to qualify, but the closest of the stuff I've liked this year, there is: Evan Chapman - Reveries I think it was @Leftandleaving who posted this a few pages back. Very electronic, not as jazzy, but still possibly experimental and post-rock-adjacent enough to scratch an itch. Kessoncoda - Outerstate Not really posty at all, hence why this is its first appearance in this thread, but it has that same kind of modern-jazz-esque flavour as Hexcut.
