^Guitarist from Vasudeva if anyone's unaware. By which I mean Corey Mastrangelo, not Leftandleaving. As far as I know.
Did anybody see Bruit performing as the backing band for M83? They take these songs to an incredible new level.
This song is so good that I checked out the other single and their two most recent albums. Very good band
Thought Trials - This Has Always Been With You Super chill, minimalist post-rock. Pray For Sound/Ranges/Secret Gardens on tranquilizers.
Swiss post-rock institution Leech have a new record out. Vinyl available now, band told me the album hits streaming in *checks notes* December(!!)
I'm off to Portals Festival this weekend so been spending the past week checking out the lineup and putting together a playlist of my favourite songs from each artist. I feel a bit giddy with excitement to be seeing some of these bands. If These Trees Could Talk and Wang Wen one after another is a dream come true after all these years.
Discovered these guys at Portals Festival. Veteran post-rockers, Billy Mahonie, are back with their first full length in 15 years. They had a great bit of swagger and cockiness to them and knew how to get the room moving. Immediately bought tickets to their London show later in the year. The Portals described them as "for fans of: Slint, Pavement and Fugazi". I only really know Fugazi out of that lot (I know), but seems accurate if you dropped the vocals from the mix of Fugazi. The album is a treat.
The Swedish legends had their dunk!festival set from 2023 recorded and it is a peach. The quality of the recording is impeccable and the set is full of huge emotional moments. I'm currently scanning the Europe dates figuring out how I can get to see them again - forgot how much I love these guys.
Mountainscape - Iridescent Post-metal with, per them, "elements of post-rock, black metal, doom, sludge and ambient in a filmscore inspired way"
