Love post rock but it's been years since I've really dove into new stuff. What's some top albums from the past year or two? I'm a big Caspian and Mogwai fan.
I really like Eluvium's first album with all piano but never got into the other stuff. I'll have to check them out.
Anyone got a favourite post rock release from this year? I can't really pick between yndi halda and Russian Circles. Haven't stopped listening to them since they were both released.
I didn't actually listen to any post rock this year, unfortunately, which I didn't notice until last week. I guess Russian Circles if you wanna count them as post rock, but I think they're more post metal than post rock
add in If These Trees Could Talk, The Mercury Program, LITE and that's my top 5 plus Caspian's Castles High, Marble Bright release I guess
I was excited for mercury program earlier this year and then it wasn't on spotify so I thought I'd check later. still not on spotify
I used to be into If These Trees Could Talk, but I don't know what they fell off for me. Maybe I should check out the new one. Forgot that came out
I really enjoyed If These Trees Could Talk and Russian Circles this year, but getting to see Caspian three times and Explosions/RC play headlining sets was pretty special.
That song is solid. Wasn't really feeling it much until the last couple minutes. I'll give the album a spin though, thanks for sharing
Bunch of post-rock/metal stuff I liked from this year: 65daysofstatic – No Man's Sky: Music For An Infinite Universe - YouTube 65daysofstatic's No Man's Sky OST! (with vocals, got a bit more prog mixed in with ambient/post-rock stuff) The Summit Lies Skyward, by FOES (something a little heavier with post-metal and prog metal touches, anyone?) (if anyone remembers Maybeshewill, this album offers a similar vibe with heavy use of samples etc.) Come To Mexico, by Totorro (FFO Enemies, Adebisi Shank, Marvins Revolt, newer And So I Watch You From Afar stuff) (new album from Japanese post-rock legends who should need no introduction) (Super-melodic, uplifting 'dream metal' with heavy shoegaze and post-metal flourishes, some tracks on here make me feel capable of punching through brick walls) e: WOAH I did not know links could do that on here. :o
