Man were you ever right. That crescendo in the 2-3 minute stretch of 'Sun Blizzard' is a highlight moment of their entire catalog tbh. All in all, fantastic effort from these guys. It's amazing to me how they take so much time to put together a collection of songs and never skip a beat. This album is like a greatest hits of 'Suits', 'Chez Viking' and 'Data' all rolled into one. So many elements from the discography incorporated into these six songs.
Thank you! Didn't even realise it was out, so I'll be checking that one out today for sure. I've been enjoying the new Tides From Nebula this month too. It doesn't really break any new ground, but it is very effective as background music.
About time I subscribed to this thread. My interest in post-rock has waned a bit over the last few years, but new albums from If These Trees Could Talk and The Mercury Program are getting me excited about the genre again.
How did I miss that there was a new TMP album out? Damn I've been out of the loop on this genre God is an Astronaut, The American Dollar, Maserati, etc all dropped new stuff recently.
I wonder if Tides Of Man will release an album this year. I remember they were writing last year and aiming for a 2015 release, but that obviously didn't happen. Young And Courageous is still great.
Dan (guitarist) told me it would definitely be out this year when I talked to him/saw them this Spring.
More ambient than post-rock, but Helios put out an EP for free in celebration of the anniversary of the incredible album Eingya. You can find the downloads by scrolling over the words in the poem at the top of this page
the official version of the new Sigur Ros song came out yesterday video is NSFW-- lots of David Lynchian nightmarish shots and whatnot, a lil nudity
I'd like to hear more about underground bands of this genre that people are in to. I'll start. This track is taken from this album: They have a new split available on pre-order now with another amazing PR band called Goodbye Enemy Airship. Both are available here (though the split is not streaming yet): Warpigs
