From their Bandcamp page: "Vespertine" is the musical score that This Will Destroy You composed for Chef Jordan Kahn's 2-Michelin Star restaurant of the same name. The score originally ran exclusively at the physical site of the restaurant in Culver City, California since its grand opening in late 2017. The program consists of seven pieces specifically written for moments within the building itself (and even the space around and on top of it). So yeah, I think it's supposed to be ambient. I like it a lot.
Coldbones is pressing a version of Cataclysm with all of the proceeds going to purchase school books by black authors and about black history for the school where one of the band members teaches. Pretty cool idea.
Am I crazy or did This Will Destroy You swap out tracks on their rarities collection? Just went to listen to Arena and it’s not on Spotify anymore.
There’s a few more changes to it as I look at my download from Bandcamp. Original release 1. Birth 2:58 2. United Field 4:31 3. New Shaper 3:32 4. Arena 6:15 5. Fair Breath 2:13 6. Many of Them 2:19 Current track list 1. Untitled Field 2:23 2. Another Life Force 8:15 3. Shifted 2:07 4. Formless Visitor 2:08 5. Fair Breath 2:12 6. Many of Them 2:18
This is a lesson to not hold off on buying music, Arena was quickly becoming one of my favorite TWDY tracks.
Vespertine was a dissapointment for me.But it's meant to be a restaurant soundtrack so...it ain't so bad.Don't really like this kind of style, prefer their older releases.Hope they come back soon with a new TWDY record with new style and ideas. As a fan after all those years, seems like they are running out of ideas, well it's normal after all this time. They made masterpieces.
Yeah! Vespertine was cool but a weird "official" release for me. Love the idea and details about it but I agree with your sentiment
heck yea! Partially because they were from an hour away from me. Saw them play countless shows over the years. Miss them dearly.
