As tags go, progressive, neo-classical post-rock sums it up. But really the best way I can describe this is, it sounds the way the artwork looks. It's beautiful, colourful, ethereal, imposing, maybe a little bit weird in places, and overall kinda epic. One of my favourite things to come out of this genre.
This came out last Friday, post-rock from the UK with some metal influence. I checked it out just because I thought the album cover was awesome and am really enjoying it, reminds me in some ways of Caspian and Moving Mountains: Coldbones – Where It All Began The vinyl for this looks sweet too, but only available from the UK as far as I can tell: Coldbones - Where It All Began Vinyl
Just drums, bass and guitars? What is this weird avant garde bullshit? But seriously this is awesome.
Yeah that was from the label description and kind of weird. I think they’re trying to call out that there are no vocals? And/or that they don’t use synths. I don’t really know, but the album is great.
Glad you all enjoyed it. I really like and respect that the songs and the album are nice and concise, which I find refreshing for the genre. It seems like a lot of post-rock bands, especially younger ones, feel compelled to have extra-long songs. Which aren't inherently bad, it's just nice to have shorter ones.
Agree, that’s exactly what grabbed me. I don’t really have time to listen to 50+ minute, 6 track meandering post-rock albums any more sadly so I’ve kinda lost touch with the genre. This album gives me all the bits I crave in 30 minutes. What’s not to like?
Not really post-rock but I really have no idea where else to post this, but the new Coma Recovery EP owns. Definitely reminds me of Junius. Apotheosis, by Coma Recovery

New Her Name is Calla currently winning over all of my affection at the moment: I wrote a little bit more about this over on Reddit. Was just a first impressions thing at first, but ended up turning into a mini review.
