Have loved every song so far but that Luke Combs one is some country pop bliss, wish it was longer. Really curious about the Chris Stapleton song
Don't care for the first two, especially given Wallen's involvement, but I really really dig the Luke Combs one.
I liked a lot of this. Lainey Wilson song was my favorite. That said, he's definitely playing all the tropes in the mainstream country music playbook, and sometimes, that's a very bad thing. "Yours" being the ickiest example.
It's a pretty fun album. Could have done without a few of the songs, especially autotuned Dolly. I really liked the Stapleton and Billy Strings songs.
Agreed. Sucks to hear stuff like that coming from someone younger who's obviously just playing up the tropes. I've got three daughters, and while witnessing all of my kids growing up is bittersweet at times, that whole possessive-father-daughter thing is so obviously creepy that I don't understand how it still passes as sweet
It's the kind of thing that pops up all the time in country songs, and I just think it's so completely inappropriate and gross. I can't help but compare that song to Jason Isbell's "Letting You Go," which is an example of how to do that type of song so much better and more artfully -- and ultimately, in a way that is so, so much more emotionally impactful.
Y’all think he asked Sturgill to feature on this? I almost lean more towards Sturgill saying, “thanks but no thanks” than Posty not asking. Anyway, it’s a collab I would’ve been interested in hearing.
On Sturgill's latest Instagram post it says that he loves Post Malone and that Post always pays for dinner, so I'm sure he would've said yes if he'd been asked, hah. If he agrees to feature on Diplo and Kesha songs I don't see why he wouldn't do a Post Malone track.
Enjoyed this record a lot more than I initially expected. Obviously there's some clunkers but that's to be expected for an overstuffed 18 track album. Think he succeeds the most on the singles and the album tracks that kind of sound like early Zac Brown Band like "Right About You" and "M-E-X-I-C-O"
The best song is one of the only ones that doesn't have a feature (What Don't Belong To Me) and could have easily fit on his last few albums haha.
just got to this one and it's easily the best so far. Nothing has been bad so far though, easy mindless listen
Post's turn towards country works better than others who've tried it because he genuinely loves the music. He's previously done awesome covers of country songs (his version of You Can Have the Crown rips) and he doesn't try to reinvent the wheel with the songs on here. It's just him collaborating with his favorite country musicians and trying to make music he'd want to listen to. Some cringy country stuff scattered throughout but overall this is so much better than I thought it'd be.
