I’ll never understand this guys appeal. He used black culture as almost cosplay to get some hype then completely bailed on it and now makes auto-tuned boring pop? Chemical is pure cheese. Make it make sense.
Can't really argue with the first point (that's a lot of white hip-hop artists, not that that's an excuse) but otherwise he seems like a relatively talented and versatile pop artist who also happens to be a very nice guy on all accounts. He's easy to root for, and to listen to imo
I think he's been regarded by the public as more of a popstar as well, he doesn't really have a "hip-hop/rap" album and never really has claimed to be anything he's not.
wasn’t white iverson his debut track? dude straight up stole Swae’s cadence and sound. By todays standards, his first 2 records are def hip hop, but it’s almost comical how much of his sound is just straight lifted from his black contemporaries on those records.
I believe he put White Iverson on Soundcloud and then a few months later it was his label debut once he got discovered
I mean that complaint can be made against any white “rapper” but he basically just makes pop music now.
The idea of him playing guitar on all the songs here is really interesting. Excited to hear it. I've loved every record so far. Also glad to see he appears to be pretty happy. I saw he recently said he intends to try to quit smoking soon, which would be...great for him.
Wasn’t big on his last one, but will definitely check it out. Agree that he’s easy to root for, seems like a delight
Really hope he's changing it up on this one, I've enjoyed all of his albums to varying degrees so far but he's at the stage now where he needs to start experimenting
