I missed the thread revival! It was a fun one back on AP Design the Skyline was so innovative. Their influence will never be forgotten.
YEE METALCORE. I am on a huge kick with anything core lately. I even like the new Motionless in White song
Could be an old song, but I really hope it's new. FFTL shared this and the Alt Press article about it on their Facebook so I'm feeling hopeful. Still clearly can't really sing, but I am excited as hell.
So I'm pretty excited that not only is the For Today farewell tour coming to my hometown of Jacksonville, but my favorite band Wage War just got added as a support band!
Idk why everyone is happy For Today is ending, did they get in fights with fans all the time or something? I need to know! Regardless I'm still a fan if their music even if they weren't groundbreaking. But one thing they'll have to live with is that their best song is only that good because of Matty Mullins being in it.
Listening to Matriarch by Veil of Maya SO MUCH. I've had it for months but now I can't stop going back to it for some reason
Speaking of Christian metalcore, they really are one of the last dying gasps of that period of time in metalcore/deathcore. I honestly can't think of any other major Christian metalcore acts that are both still around and relevant other than August Burns Red and The Devil Wears Prada.
And both of those openly support LGBTQ+ people AND are miles better than For Today musically. I know which I'd rather listen to...(and they do happen to be two of the few metalcore bands that I do still listen to lol)
I thought the guitarist was the only homophobe, especially since Matty Montgomery came out and said he didn't support what that guitarist said. Idk I wasn't a fan of the band around this time, at this point I'm more going for Wage War than I am for For Today. I fucking love Wage War.
If I recall right, he did denounce the guitarist but still said that he didn't agree with gay marriage in the same breath. Hell, the dude wrote blog posts about it.
Last time I saw For Today was a headliner they did with Impending Doom, The Chariot, Hundredth, and Texas In July. All bands with some affiliation to Christianity and all bands that went about it in a much better way. For Today was the worst band that played that night. Every band outplayed them.
You get "Christian" bands like For Today and then you get Christian bands like ABR... Artist Chat: Brent Rambler of August Burns Red
