It was "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis They killed at Berkeley the other night. Such a good show.
I’m seeing these guys next week in Boston. It’ll be the first time I’ve seen them since Waiter or Church Mouth days. I’m really excited, but their setlist looks like they only play songs from the last 3 albums.
I've been a fan since the band started, but only got to see them last year for the first time. I was a little disappointed when they introduced an 'old song' and it was from In the Mountain in the Cloud. Regardless, the set was great. I'll be seeing them next week again.
Yeah, at this point it's going to be hard to see anything prior to ITMITC. The last three shows I've seen have not had anything from before, and I've only seen them one time after Woodstock released. Edit: How does this band page have only seven pages and no action for over a year?
This was my favorite setlist I've seen them play: And I People Say AKA M80 the Wolf Shade 60 Years The Sun Do You Everyone Is Golden Moonage Daydream (David Bowie cover) New Orleans The Dead Dog Guns & Dogs My Mind Church Mouth Portugal. The Man Setlist at Varsity Theater, Minneapolis
For Whom the Bell Tolls (Metallica cover) Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 (Pink Floyd cover) Purple Yellow Red and Blue Number One Live in the Momen tFeel It Still Creep in a T-Shirt Children of the Revolution (T. Rex cover) Atomic Man (with Gimme Shelter) Noise Pollution Modern Jesus All Your Light (Times Like These) (with I Want You (She's So Heavy) Feel It Still Hip Hop Kids Holy Roller (Hallelujah) Encore: Evil Friends / Day Man Play Video So American Play Video People Say That was my set list, I would have loved to catch some stuff from Church Mouth, especially something like Children but I feel like they're not that band anymore.
We'll see what the future brings. It's possible that Feel It Still put them on a different path, but this band has always been evolving and changing. While Woodstock is my least favorite PTM album, and unfortunately by a large margin, I still think they have plenty left in store and will continue to surprise us with what they produce. You're right though, I haven't seen a band so heavily ignore their past catalog as much as I have with Portugal. The Man. I've been listening since Waiter as well so I would love to see a more eclectic setlist. Hell, I've seen them play Feel It Still like eight times live already considering they play it twice every show. I'm good on that.
Funnily enough, I got into these guys because I heard they got weird and proggy like Volta. That couldn't be further from the truth nowadays. I still love the band's more recent work though.
The covers thing is only recent for this album cycle. I dunno why they did so much, but they never used to
Just listened to "In the Mountain in the Cloud" for the first time since... probably 2011 when it was released? I forgot how much I loved this one
In The Mountain... has aged well I think. I was really into the band when it came out so it didn’t hit me like Waiter or Satanic. Though I was a fool to think it would considering they change their sound on every album.
Been throwing on church mouth & censored colors a lot recently after not listening to ptm for a long while, so damn good

Out today and it's pretty good. This version of "So Young" sounds like it could fit in on Satanic Satanist.
