pretty much, they had written some songs ahead of time for satanic satanist, but directly after that john spent a week or so with the same producer working on some spontaneous songwriting. i think the other members may have played on it a bit, but it mostly came from john and the producer messing around p.s. i love so young!
Recently listened through all their albums again, here's what you didn't ask for Evil Friends >= Satantic Satanist >> In the Mountain > Waiter >> American Ghetto > Censored Colors >>> Church Mouth Also as much as I like this band they sure love to reuse vocal melodies
Evil Friends > Church Mouth > Satanic Satanist > Censored Colors > Waiter, You Vultures > Mountain > American Ghetto>Wizard Will regret order tomorrow. I love all these albums though.
Satanic Church Evil Censored Waiter Mountain Ghetto=wizard Top 3 change constantly. Def my most listened though. Took me along time to come around to some of the lyrics on Evil Friends but then I went back and noticed a lot of the Church Mouth songs I love don't make a whole lot of sense. Atleast at first pass
Can't believe we are getting a new Portugal record this week. Even though only like six tracks will be new to us, I'm still very excited.
Mountain Colors Satanic Satanist Church Mouth Evil Friends American Ghetto Waiter I think I have a much lower opinion of Evil Friends than the majority.
Happened to catch the end of the Alt 18 countdown on AltNation on SiriusXM and "Feel It Still" was number 1, apparently has been for the last 5 or 6 weeks, which is pretty cool for them and not what I expected.
Feel It Still is an okay song that is kinda bland and I'm pretty surprised it's their biggest hit. I thought for sure that something from Evil Friends would have blown up more.
Yeah I don't like feel it still near as much as anything off of Evil Friends. Still think Noise Pollution is their best new track. I really want to her those other versions.
I dont get the FIS hype either. I heards bits of Live in the Moment and thought that song as a single would have blown up. Seems like a sure fire indie summer hit. I love Noise Pollution, and Number One, and I cant wait to see how the albums fits together as a whole. only a few more days! However I am sure it will leak soon.
I like it, it's a fun song, nowhere near the top of their output, but I never expected the AltNation listeners to be into PTM. I mean I know they're really into "[Blank] The [Blank]" bands (Cage The Elephant, Foster The People, Young The Giant) but I didn't think that included Portugal. The Man
I hope it leaks soon. My preorder will be here on Friday, but would love to listen earlier than that if possible.
As someone who's not super into this band outside of Evil Friends, "Feel It Still" bumped this album into my most anticipated, and is one of the best songs I've heard this year
I can only buy one album this weekend, should it be PTM, or Nickelback? I'm joking, it's totally gonna be nickelback
Speak for yourself! I've held out listening to everything after "Feel it Still". Super excited to finally hear this.
I've only listened to Feel it Still and So Young, both are great. Evil Friends is probably my favorite I have not listened to them enough recently to making any ranking tho
So with the release of Rich Friends today, they have released half the album. And I couldnt resist, I listened to all 5 songs. With that said, this is shaping up to my least favorite PTM album. Obviously Ill give the album a shot as a whole on Friday, or whenever it leaks for that matter, but I dont have a lot of hope for it. So far the whole album just seems kinda, basic. I really like Number One and Noise Pollution, but the other three are just OK, nothing that blew me away. Just some catchy, simple, indie radio songs. Which just seems like a step backward for a band who has put out so many amazing songs/albums throughout the years. It may also be because they teased us for so long. Told us it was finished and released clips of the songs, only to say nevermind, scrapped or changed the songs, and are releasing songs that in my opinion arent fully fleshed out. Maybe my expectations were too high. Hopefully they stay true to their word and we get to hear Doomin + Gloomin at some point, even though it probably wont be the same. However I will always wonder "what if". What if I would have liked D+G so much better than Woodstock.? Oh well. Rant over.
What's even the point of releasing a single three days before your album comes out That being said, Rich Friends rules
