Man I've always loved American Ghetto. I'm sad everybody here doesn't care for it. The Dead Dog, All My People, The Pushers Party, Just A Fool, When The War Ends.. basically every song haha. What's not to like?
I’m sad to see Church Mouth low on a lot of lists. Maybe I just have nostalgia glasses on with that one. I think satanic might be my favorite because that is when I reallly got into the band. That album was my college lay at the beach playlist starter. Non stop.
Off the top of my head, I can't confirm, but the first time I saw them was 2008 and they only had the two albums, so very high probability
Church Mouth is in my top three, but it definitely was a grower. If someone got into them from Woodstock I doubt they'll like anything pre SS
Satanic is definitely my fav. Though I’m sad to see no love for Wizard. Such an experimental/prog feel to it compared to their other stuff.
I need to listen to Wizard again. It's been years since I've heard it and I honestly forgot what it sounds like. I don't think it's even on Spotify Edit: All I remember is that it has the magic song titles haha.
Church Mouth fan here. It was my entry point to this band. Never got into Wizard, Waiter, or Anatomy of a Ghost tbh. Loved everything since w/ exception of Censored Colors. Not sure why I never got fully into that one but it's the release that I'm least familiar with of anything thats post Church Mouth.
church mouth is great, was my entry point as well (other than hearing aka m80 the wolf and not checking out anything else from waiter), so it'll always have a special place in my heart. i think with the first 3 albums (and wizard obviously), the songs themselves take a backseat to the overall vibe and flow of the entire album, and while there's a couple easy favorites, the albums are best listened to as a whole. the later albums have more songs that stand better on their own, so yeah i'd expect someone that listened to woodstock at first (especially with the popularity of singles in the mainstream today), trying to go to the early catalog and have a hard time getting into it. but, that's okay, each album is an experience of it's own and they all deserve a chance to sink in. i hope newer fans are willing to give their discography a try!
American Ghetto is pretty good but it definitely feels like a collection of b-sides and very inessential. I throw it on once every 6 months or so
I know Feel It Still has been massively commercially successful, but how about Woodstock? Has the full record been catching on with people or are they currently a one hit wonder to the general public?
Billboard Hot 100: Imagine Dragons and Portugal. The Man rise, but Post Malone is still on top Feel it Still is #4.
I'll sound entitled right now but I'm going to miss seeing them in small venues where people know every song
