They wanted to make an album based on the same principles of that time (at Woodstock) - frustration, rebellion and social commentary. Did they? Idk I want Doomin+Gloomin
Maybe I'm just not jaded because I didn't pay any attention to the stuff around Doomin' + Gloomin'. I just like what they put out here. It doesn't feel too far off from (some of) their other stuff, but it definitely doubles down on the indie pop rock element of their sound.
It's always been delayed. My understanding is that all vinyls for every band are backed up now since there's so much demand. Some bands are delaying the release of an album so that vinyl can launch the same day like ETID did, but some are releasing the CDs and digital with a delayed vinyl like PTM and Paramore did.
Not all records are delayed. A lot are, yeah. But it seems like artists are catching along and just setting a release date for a month or two after when they plan on. The Kendrick Lamar preorder wasn't supposed to ship until next month but they started shipping yesterday. Also, it looks like both Church Mouth and Waiter are getting vinyl represses with release dates the same as Woodstock.
I think a lot of artists are setting their release dates with the vinyl shortage in mind. At least that is what I remember reading. I could definitely be wrong. I also remember hearing a lot of the material is made by one company in Japan, so that's causing a backlog of stuff that needs to be pressed. Something like that
I've given Woodstock a few more spins, it is definitely enjoyable, but I stand by my comment about it being my least favorite PTM record. I dont hate anything on it, I only dislike Feel It Still. That song might be the only one out of PTMs entire catalog that I just dont like to listen to and skip every time. Theres some stuff that I wish was more fleshed out, and some stuff that I would tweak here and there. My biggest gripe being it is just a little half baked like another poster said earlier. I also realize I kept calling Gloomin + Doomin "Doomin + Gloomin" lol
This record gets better on every listen and I enjoy it but it's definitely not on par with Evil Friends.
I really, really loved Evil Friends and this is doing absolutely nothing for me. Doesn't feel like it has a vision or a cohesive soundscape like the rest of their records.
John said on reddit that he wants to release the original version of Easy Tiger with the horns. I wish that version made the album, it would be my favorite song. Hope we dont gotta wait for years for the next album, I also wish I wasnt already looking forward to it, but Woodstock just isnt what I was hoping it would be...
Loving this record, only song not clicking at all is Mr.Lonely. Could see Rich Friends being a big single just like Feel it Still.
