Will have to give this more listens of course, but initial impressions are... it's nice and breezy, but mostly unremarkable. There's moments throughout that are pretty cool, but overall it's just kinda nice. I really liked Time's A Fantasy, which is basically Heavy Games III, just a really nice vibe and has a cool different feeling for the band. It going seamlessly into Doubt was pretty nice, and Doubt has some really classic PTM vibes, the way you can bob your head real nice throughout.
Fair enough. I like those three tracks but they’re far from my favorites off of it. With that said; I find this new record highly underwhelming and mostly forgettable whereas I see Evil Friends as the one of the group’s best. It’s a big time tie between Satanic Satanist and Evil Friends for me.
I forgot this record even came out - that’s how apathetic I feel about PTM these days which makes me sad. I just listened to it last night but overall I’m big time meh. Especially when you consider that it’s been six years since Woodstock and ten since Evil Friends..
the highs are definitely higher on Evil Friends for sure. these days I’m a lazy listener so I value something I can put on the whole way through just a tincy bit more
I remember thinking that Satanic Satanist was gonna blow the fuck up and make them huge. Took a bit longer but glad they finally got there with “Feel it Still”. As I said last week and as others have said, this is enjoyable and good but still not having anything truly stand out for me personally. Maybe as summer continues on it will click more but if not, no biggie. They have a huge catalog I love and while they may never go back to an album a year like they were back in the days I’m sure there’s tons of music and genres they’ll provide down the road.
Yeah, Doubt is the one for me right now. The beginning sounds so much like an In The Mountain, In The Cloud cut
Grim Generation is the next single, I think the song could potentially be their next biggest single if they push it, I don't know if they really want that though honestly
I don't want to break your heart, but they don't "pick" songs up haha. Labels pay for those opportunities
was always super confused why grim generation wasn't pushed as the lead single for the album. it's so good!
I feel like I totally missed something special on this tour and didn't realize/know it. I had seen that SNACKTIME was opening this tour and had never heard of them, I dug in a bit because of the name mostly, and found that they are actually pretty awesome. 7-piece genre-leaping band who seem like they have a ton of potential to be huge. They just released their first double single and it's pretty great ANYWAY, where I am going with this, I just saw an article about one of the PTM tour stops and apparently SNACKTIME plays with PTM the entirety of their set, as a cohesive like 10+ person band for PTM. I wish I knew this when they came by months ago, it sounds phenomenal. It reminds me of years ago, they played with Wild Orchid Children, and did the same thing where both bands played together for the main PTM set, and it was amazing. Anyway, has anyone gone to this tour? Planning on going?
I regret missing it too, it came by here like 3 weeks ago and the setlist was incredible/full of stuff I haven’t heard them play before
