Portugal. The Man - Chris Black Changed My Life (June 23, 2023)

Kind of digging this last night of the apocalypse dance party vibe on the new track.

 

Is it me or does the version of Dummy that’s in the Taco Bell commercial sound different than the single?

 

Not sure how I feel about the new track yet.

 

I like it. I’ll miss their early material but this shit is good and an absolute ear worm

 

I dig it. I agree it’s an ear worm and it sent me on a PTM kick all day yesterday, so I think that bodes well.

 

Catchy as hell.

And yeah - will be playing PTM all day at work.

 

Surprised that What, Me Worry? isn’t on this

 

Just listened to Dummy and felt absolutely nothing.

Such a bummer..

 

The clip in the Taco Bell commercial is the best part the of the track.

I liked What, Me Worry? quite a bit more than this song.

 

Dig the sentiment behind the album explanation. Not big on the song but will always check out their stuff.

 

Weird single choice as it's so short and doesn't really build to much so pretty underwhelming. I've been a loud complainer about a lack of new music from them though, so just happy to know that there will be something to chew on soon.

 

Dig the single and am stoked for a new album even though Woodstock did very little for me. Praying this is better! Fell in love with this band on "The Satanic Satanist" and loved the run from that album to "Evil Friends" but no matter how many times I try I just can't get into Woodstock...

 

This band was so exciting early on, super prolific and constantly changing and switching things up. All their stuff sounds the same anymore, just dull radio indie. kind of a bummer

 

Yup to all of this. Massive bummer.

I’m not even remotely excited for this record now and thats kind of insane to me considering how much I love this band.

 

Agreed on the last few comments but I kind of felt like Woodstock was a return to form for them. Easy tiger could borderline fit on Church Mouth. And feel it still, while a huge early single, was one of the worst on the record imo.

Holding out hope for this record.

Church Mouth was my gateway into them. Glad I caught them live back in that era when they just straight ripped through sets for 90+ minutes of non stop music

Dummy is catchy but feels like half a song.

 

Time to go back and re-listen to the discog for the first time in a while. Remember how prolific they used to be.... Will be fun to revist.

 

Not for me but they been at it since 2005 let them make their money.
