No need for explanation. It's a sweet brag I'd slip it in like that all the time if I was you. Power move!
For any readers interested, next week*ish is Portland book week and there is a book crawl. I'll be volunteering and it'll be super fun! Portland Book Week
I happened to go on the last day they had the rhubarb sundae and it was delicious! Can't remember if I already posted about it but it kind of awakened a craving for more soft serve
Hope everyone has been staying cool and hydrated. Went to a Pickles game on Sat, and it was rough until the sun set below the tree line.
I declare everything to eat in this town is too expensive. I know I shouldn't compare prices to my small rural hometown but it's hard not to. Where is the affordable food plz.
Not to make this my personal concert ticket selling thread lol but I have a family emergency and can't go to the get up kids show on Saturday anymore. If anyone wants two GA tickets hit me up. I'm fine parting with them for free because honestly otherwise they'll go to waste since I can't go and idk any fans irl. And it's not sold out so I don't think there's like huge demand to sell em anyway In other Portland related news, it's hot and also a plane crashed in fairview yesterday which was super wild
I'm hoping to get my portfolio started and start a comic in the university newspaper at PSU, but I fear that I will be rejected. Are there any alternate ways to get my portfolio up and running?
Just spent a few days in Portland and I’m jealous of anyone that gets to live there. Such a beautiful, fun city full of very nice people and many delicious vegan joints.
Heading over to Edgefield next week for a show, doesn’t look like it’ll be raining much for a few days beforehand so I’m optimistic that it’ll still be somewhat dry. If anyone has any tips about the venue, pass em my way! Wouldn’t normally ask but I know it’s kind of a unique one
Wear boots suitable for mud and mush. Maybe bring a poncho just in case. Don't eat there because it's like going to mcmennamins if they had a super limited menu, took those food items down to their most basic and bland components, and charged you more for it. I've had good luck with parking. I've never gotten stuck there. If you're on the lawn they legit do measure your chair if you bring one so be sure it meets their size specs or they'll send you away
Edgefield experience was very good! We got there like 20-30 min after doors, and even with the line finding a good spot on the lawn were still both a breeze. Could not believe parking was free! I’ve never seen a venue more rigorously verify towel/chair sizes but I get it lol - only so much space before people start to crowd too much. Loved how easy to navigate the whole place was. We stayed for a nightcap afterward, headed to the parking lot about 45 minutes after the show ended and had no trouble leaving by then, thankfully
Project Pabst 2025 just got like all my money. Like I'm supposed to be saving for a destination wedding I'm attending this fall but oh well
Was just in Portland a couple weeks ago… had a great time this year. There were some art festivals going on in town, so it felt lively. Popped around for a few drinks, ate at Din Tai Fung in the mall, and then finished off the night hanging at Departure looking out over a town square where one of the events was taking place. Next day, headed out to Mt. Hood for a few days of snowboarding… again, an excellent time this year, good conditions, a couple bluebird days, just incredible!
My wants one of the cute lil cottage bungalow witchy looking houses in Laurelhurst but my budget is.... Gremlin squatting in the sewers
Cross posting from the Rx Bandits thread: I have an extra ticket to the show on Friday at Revolution Hall. 21+ Floor. Free to a good home.
Drove down to Eugene on Wednesday to see Slowdive at the Cuthbert Amphitheater. Aside from them being a notorously solid live band, I was really impressed by the sound there. That it wasn’t windy outside probably helped, but it was probably the best sounding outdoor venue I’ve been to
Looks like Movie Madness is moving up to NE next to Hollywood Theater. They just opened a David Lynch themed bar over there too and are supposedly opening up a new food cart pod on that stretch of Sandy as well. Excited for any development in that area that is not apartments!
