Yeah, I bent the handle of our shovel chipping ice away yesterday, but at least I can get to the sidewalk without hiking poles now

My parking lot was way worse today than it was yesterday omg. It's still an ice skating rink. Debating if I wanna walk across the ice to a pub nearby and support the lil local businesses.

I saw some guys on tik tok doing that trick where you put socks over your shoes to walk across ice so I tried and it works really well, way better than my hiking boots

  4. Lol my wife texted me pretty much that exact same thing about 30 seconds after I cartoonishly ate shit on the ice shoveling a path outside the house in my boots. A real Home Alone ass fall. But hey after 2 hours at least it’s done now

The winter light festival is this weekend and next weekend if anyone is around! I volunteered at it tonight and it was super fun. It's outside and free and a cool showcase for artists and a great community event to support.

Today is my only day off this week so I'm def gonna try to enjoy it. Yesterday by the time I got off work I'd missed all the sun (no windows in my work building) so gonna take advantage today. And also join 10000 other people prob and try to wash my car lol

I feel like I have 10,000 personalities and lives I want to live. I was in my downtown pdx era for a while and then my St. Johns phase but now I'm in my daydreaming of having one of the cute townhouses by the target in fairview suburban millennial moods

  9. Was hosting some friends who were visiting for a wedding last week. Took them to see the cherry blossoms near downtown, which I had never seen either. We also hung out quite a bit in the Alberta district area, which they enjoyed. Wanted to take them to Multnomah Falls but didn't have the time so we did a shorter but still nice hike close to Vancouver in Camas.

Felt kind of weird showing taking them to places when I still feel like I don't really know my way around or everything there is to do lol.

  10. If an artist I like is coming to town, I'm gonna see them regardless, but I'm curious what are people's favorite and least favorite venues? So far, I've only seen a metal show at Dante's and SLS at Hawthorne Theatre. Seeing Bayside at the Roseland Theater next week as well.

I really don't like the Roseland, but just got tickets for the Bayside show. I'll be seeing IATA at the Hawthorne next month, too. It's been a while since I've been there, but I remember liking it. Even if I love a band, I'll skip any Crystal Ballroom shows. My favorite venue is Doug Fir, so I'm excited it'll be opening back up.

I really liked the old Doug Fir and was bummed to see it go not long after I moved here. Excited to check out the new one though

Mississippi Studios is cool. Sound is usually not bad and I like that there’s a little balcony with sitting and standing room. It’s nothing fancy but I also had a good time at a local show at a spot kinda in central eastside called Swan Dive

Crystal Ballroom I could take or leave, and haven’t cared for Aladdin or Polaris at all. I was at the Roseland in like 2008 on a tour and I remember not liking it but have no idea why lol

Gonna be checking out Rev Hall and the Hawthorne for a couple of shows in like 2-3 weeks. Have heard Rev Hall has a cool rooftop bar or something?

Revolution Hall is pretty cool. I’ve been a fan of Mission Theater lately. Wonder Ballroom is probably my least favorite.

I will also be at the bayside show!

I used to go to a lot of shows at the crystal ballroom but now they all seem to be at the roseland. I'm not super picky with venues. I have untrained peasant ears so I've never noticed the sound being off at any venue consistently. I don't care for edgefield but that's mostly because I hate outdoor summer shows and in the pnw it could be crazy hot or crazy cold and rainy and muddy or also all those things in one night and I don't like those odds lol.

Also I went to Ringside for my bfs birthday so he could have a good steak. And full disclosure I'm a vegetarian so my review of a steakhouse means literally nothing, but it was just okay. I paid like $15 for a mid salad which kinda sucked and I was intimidated by the fancy affair of it all. Have never had my car at a valet before! And the waiters are so fancy and like scrape the crumbs off the table between courses. Def a special event kind of place but was surprised how it was like half fancy dressed special occasion people, and half people who looked like they rolled out of bed.

  16. I've been to Ringside once. I liked it, but ya it's definitely on the pricier side. We went to a Thai place called Farmhouse Kitchen before the show at Hawthorne Theatre last week and it was pretty good.

I used to work in an office in the basement of Rev Hall. It's a great venue now that they can remove all the seating. It used to be weird to go see a hardcore show with half the floor filled with rows of seats. The rooftop bar is great in the summer, too.

I'm pretty indifferent with venues, I'll go to whichever one is having a show I'm interested in. But by far I've had the most negative experiences at the Roseland, though most of it has happened outside. I've been harassed, followed, had someone try to light a tree on fire next to my car while I was sitting in it, stepped in a pool of blood on the sidewalk, etc. Also it feels significantly louder there than other places.

  19. Haha, yeah, this is kinda how I felt about the Aladdin Theater. It wasn’t really a hardcore show but I did see Bully there last summer and everyone was trying to cram into the tiny standing area right in front of the stage. You could tell people wanted to bounce around but didn’t really have room

I have to agree. I think that area (Roseland, Dante’s, Star) has become my least favorite to go to in the last few years, especially since I go to a lot of shows alone.

If anyone wants tickets to the spill canvas/Ace Enders show at mission theater tonight I have 2 tickets. don't even mind giving them for free. I have had some family stuff come up and consequently I'm just not in the mood for a show

I completely forgot that was tonight and want to go, but I woke up with a migraine this morning, so I don't think I have it in me :anguish:

Omg no a migraine and a show is a terrible mix! Feel better soon!

  25. I saw Beach Weather at the Mission Theater on Sun. Cute little venue, and I'm a fan of any place that has balcony seating ha.
