These two singles are my first time listening to Porter, I've been aware of him in the past but never delved, and I like Cheerleader, had to warm up a bit to it but I like it, but Knock Yourself Out really hits for me. Going back into his discography now, starting with Spitfire. I do know that this new album is fairly different from his past stuff, but that's about it.
Also there is a non-zero chance I've heard some of his stuff already in the past from EDM friends and not known lol
fan-fuckin-tastic but for me personally Worlds will always be my favorite being it got me into him after seeing him live in 2017 i wanna say
Worlds was my introduction to Porter back in like 2013 I think and the moment I heard “Divinity” was life changing. I had just gotten myself into a dream job I’d always wanted and would blast that through my speakers as I flew down the freeway at night feeling so insanely alive. Such a frenetic, life affirming feeling that has always stuck with me.
thats amazing and i was right, it was 2017, i forgot his set got cut short due to a storm, thanks setlistfm! Porter Robinson Concert Setlist at Lollapalooza 2017 on August 3, 2017 | setlist.fm
Spitfire really was the EP that catapulted Owsla and that style of electro house around 2010. Incredible stuff
I still remember waiting for Spitfire to drop on Beatport when it came out. I’ve loved everything he’s done and I think everything is worth at least giving a try. Each era is kinda wildly different so it’s been a cool journey
Finished Spitfire, all of the OG songs were great, most of the remixes were also great with a few being a little eh. But since all of his songs were great that's what matters.
Alright yea I'm pretty sure I've heard Language mixed into people's sets at various dances haha, it's nice
The Knife Party Unison remix and the Kill the Noise Spitfire remix are some of my favorite electronic songs of all time haha
I just have to say, it’s going to be very hard for this album to live up to Nurture for me… it just is what it is. And it’s not even that I’m not looking forward to this one, I absolutely am… but Nurture is just that good, IMO.
Knife Party Unison was definitely one of the great remix songs! Kill the Noise Spitfire was also quite nice
I like Worlds but not anywhere close to the amount I love Nurture so I've not felt the need to go back any further. I'm not super into that kind of music.
update: I did listen to Spitfire in 2020, but apparently I don't remember doing so. Guess I'll revisit
Im kind of backwards on this, enjoyed everything through Worlds (and Shelter) but haven’t been able to relate to anything since. His live show (non DJ set) is just a bit too cheeseball for me, saw him at Bonnaroo and the live vocals were not it. Glad to see he’s still super successful though.
