Wonder if he had an ap.net account, there are too many things this era that takes me back to the late 00s soundwise and visually, plus the Kitsuné Maison reference and Lights namedrop etc.
after spending past 6 days with this, I really really really like this...however there's just something that's preventing me from being full blown in love with it as I was expecting. And it's nothing that I can specifically pinpoint either...maybe it's because of the album sequencing (it takes the winds out of it's own sails at points?) or that the singles are probably the strongest on the record or maybe the thematic thread isn't as strongly presented? I don't know - some of these songs are up there with his best, but it's not gelling as a complete work for me yet. However, I'm growing to enjoy it more and more. Nurture was just such a statement piece that it'll be hard to stack up
I've only listened twice, and while I dig the whole album, the first three songs are HUGE. Especially spending more time with them, they have an unfair advantage. I think I am gonna listen to the album starting at track 4 once, just to try and give the new songs more of a chance to grow
I'm absolutely in love with it, I think the final song that had to still click with me was Everything to Me, which did on my drive home yesterday, gorgeous song.
I love this album and can't stop playing it, but Russian Roulette as track 3 is a pretty big ask of the listener IMO. The radio edit in that spot would do a better job of maintaining the momentum set up by the first two songs... but I get why the full version is important to the album for sure.
Should’ve been the mid-point or last song on the album and it’s a pretty big misstep imo it’s one of his best songs
Nah Everything to Me is the definite closer I actually kind of dig Russian Roulette in between the peppier songs. It also breaks it up from Easier to Love You and Everything to Me which are the other slower songs on the album
got this in an e-mail this morning, I've never done one of these before but could be fun with porter!
Feel free to remove if I'm breaking any rules. I'm releasing a record on August 30th and put out the first single yesterday. Porter's work has been a huge influence on the record. This track falls more into the Smile world of things with it's riffs and synths. I've always enjoyed discussing his work on this board. Not to mention the shared excitement around Smile's release. Hope you enjoy
few things make me feel like the ending of easier to love you. this album is full of "moments" very special moments.
