I'll be honest, I am more interested in a Porter solo album than a collab album at this point. I would take BOTH, of course, but nurture was so good that I am just riding this train foreverrrr
that teaser sounds like something straight out of the Scott pilgrim video game and I be down for that sound
Oh yeah it did! It was like a culmination of years’ worth of life events and pent up emotions that all came to a head when Nurture was dropping, for me. And obviously the timing and the pandemic being so prominent in everyone’s lives still… And I was even consciously looking for Porter's older music at the time, but just didn’t know it was Porter… Then this album drops, and it was different but somehow exactly what I needed to hear on TOP of all of that?? It ALL hit me like a freight train man… was truly a wild time.
would be interested in whether he'll get a bigger push from indie blogs with this sound. 100 gecs is such a mainstay, this feels very much in that lane.
I think it came out the exact week I got fully vaccinated and started exploring the world again. Perfect album for that
i discovered him working lolla years ago when worlds was still relevant and yah been a fan ever since, nurture definitely hit at the right time for me too, need to revisit it soon!
I discovered him and Zedd when they opened for Skrillex years ago. Pretty sure it was Porter and Zedd’s first tour too, and Porter didn’t even have his first EP out yet. Zedd used to be enjoyable but Porter has been something special to me since that first night. He always manages to just blow my mind with each release
this is a good point. Though I’m only a fan of the “hits” when it comes to gecs, I can see them helping make more room for Porter in the years since Nurture within the indie crowd
My first exposure to Porter was actually the Virtual Self project. A bunch of my rhythm game friends were posting Eon Break saying "this just sounds like a DDR song". I listened to it, ended up loving it and all the other songs from that EP and from there I discovered Shelter and Worlds. It was really cool to find out his initial inspiration for getting into music was DDR because that game has also been a huge part of my life for many years.
Clip sounds like some of the neon electronic stuff that came out of the scene circa 2008/2009, intrigued
