I love this whole album but I feel like dullscythe is underappreciated. I love how emotional it is despite not having words, and how it still sounds ethereal and beautiful despite also being very chaotic
Might sound funny, but it sounds very “high-desert” to me… I had just come back from central Oregon a month or two before Nurture dropped and it immediately triggered my recent memories of being there, when I heard it.
Gorgeous picture!! I want to head to the Pacific NW so badly! The moment when dullscythe finally smoothes out into the straight rolling beat is probably the most euphoric moment on a record that’s defined by euphoria haha
Alright so my vinyl came yesterday but unless I'm missing something there's no clear credit for the female vocalist that is all over this thing. Anyone know who sings with him on a bunch of these?
Yeah, it’s a really cool effect that works well, especially the way it “warbles” back and forth between pitch shifted and his regular voice
Really cool how the pitch shifting creates these characters across the album. It's as if they're singing to/with each other.
That video really puts into perspective how hard it must be to stay in that vocal range with the energy of his live show. Singing in a lower octave, where instinctively you'd go up into your head voice based on the dynamic of the song.
Think "Blossom" is my favorite track on here though it's a very tough call. I know it's not indicative of how the rest of this thing sounds but its my goto first suggestion when recommending this release to someone.
Ya'll the piano in Wind Tempos stops me in my tracks every time. It sounds like Christmas in the weirdest way.
