Yea that bit definitely doesn't hold up

 

I always assumed that joke was a commentary on the overly macho action hero archetype MacGruber was meant to embody in the movie, like of course MacGruber would be problematically uncomfortable around gay people. But if Forte regrets putting it in then I guess I gave it too much credit. At least he's able to admit his mistake.
