Hot Rod is great but popstar is fantastic.

 

It's pretty amazing how consistently good The Lonely Island has stayed for so long.

Of course there are some weak digital shorts, and some of their albums are better than others, but for the most part they deliver quality AND quantity.

 

My friends all loved Hot Rod when it came out but I avoided it. Might watch Popstar after work if I'm not 2 sleepy

I think I like Popstar just a smidge more than Hot Rod but they’re both all time faves for me

 

Had to stop the other night so I’m finishing HR now. It’s still just really not for me. The plot was sweeter than I expected and a few scenes got me, but most of it just fell really flat. I’m not into overly long gags which had a lot to do with it. I do love how Sissy played it totally straight.

 

I think that the hardest I've ever laughed at an overly long extended gag is Rod falling down the hill during training.

 

That was one of the few scenes I liked. More the impromptu parade than the riot but then all singing was good.

 

One of my favorite scenes is when they ring the bell and then all try matching the pitch and Bill Hader barks

 

Yeah that just annoyed me to no end, lol.

 

What about when Danny McBride beats up that homeowner?

Yeah I been drinking green tea all goddamn day!

 

The “BABE WAIT!” scene is one of the most quoted bits in my life

 

I liked the green tea line. And I liked when Ian McShane was pretending to be asleep and when the old fisherman was oiling him up. I didn’t like any of the repeated line scenes.

 

Balls! We just ran over a small bus!

The homeless person always looked like Tim from Rise Against to me.

 

We should do like a group viewing of Hot Rod lmao. All start it at the same time and post during jt.
