I’m the opposite haha. I think the run after Chic Chick is incredible and that’s my favorite album of hers, but I do like all of her projects.

Yeah me too, Hard Feelings is close to the best on the album, and I love Time is Up and Aristocrat as well.

 

i never would have listened to this if it wasn't for my goal of listening to as many 2020 releases as possible. glad i started that challenge.

this was a lot of fun. i have no idea the history of Poppy or how long she has (they have?) been around or what previous albums sound like but this was a crazy ride. i'm not sure everything works (for me personally) but my god this album has like every damn genre on it and everything seems to be thrown at the wall to see what sticks. pretty cool.

 

She used to do cover songs on youtube until she started collaborating with her producer, and all around piece of shit Titanic Sinclair. Together they started to make these really creepy videos where Poppy was a sentient robot just discovering things like a child. She put out her first album, poppy.computer, which was pretty much straight bubble gum pop about how she was a computer. Her second album had her working with Diplo a little bit and branched out some. The last two songs on the record are precursors to what we get here. She's dropped the computer weirdo nonsense as well as her producer and acts like a human being. This album still has her producer all over it, but her schtick is mostly gone. Her old music is fun, but NOTHING like this.

 

The end of Concrete is sooo catchy, definitely my favorite moment on this

sit/stay is def my fave track on the album

 

Bloodmoney has become my fav all of a sudden. Wasn't too crazy about it when I first heard it a few weeks ago.

 

just wanted to pop in here to say this album is incredible.

reminds me of Garbage.

 

i feel like my favorite changes after every listen but right now I'm loving Anything Like Me and Fill the Crown

there is not a single bad song on this album

I've been watching a lot of people reacting to hearing her music for the first time and they are all hilarious.

This is incredible and one hell of a home run. Sick Of The Sun is the one that will stay in my head so far, and made me teary eyed. So excited to give it many more listens

 

For some reason I decided to look in this thread, never cared for her music or the shtick or whatever


Watched four videos and I will probably buy this album

 

Mission accomplished.

 

I was kind of on the fence about going to her show next week.

Then it sold out.

Then tickets were released and I bought them immediately

Funny how that works
