Lmao hamster dance on loop the ENTIRE time between opening act and poppy. Good comedy. Show already worth it
It's just a person lip synching to what I hope is at least her techno metal. Its a drag queen (pardon me if I'm not using the right term) lip synching while bad techno metal is being played. That's it I guess its better than a terrible local metal band so ill give them credit
Okay all done. Here's domitime review. B+ Okay. So. This is going to come off a little overly critical. Crowd: First off the Austin crowd was GREAT. I've now seen 5 shows here and the crowds have been stellar every time. Not a metal crowd at all, but everyone was definitely shoving, pogo, and fist pumps. Energetic crowds of mostly woman (18-40l and a few domos (30+ yo dudes with beards). Overall crowd was very very into it. Thumbs up. Setlist: Uggghhh no Mean, Eat, Cheese, or Crown. That made me sad. She did play about 16 songs, but it flew by. At first I was like "kinda short" (hour and 10minutes), but hey, she did pack in a bunch of songs. Poppy: Hmmm.... idk. Her songs are obviously amazing but idk if she's got the "must see her live" thing going for her yet. Her songs and an enthusiastic crowd are definitely pushing this thing forward. Not saying she was bad by any means. Far from it. She is a star. But her stage presence and overall performance seemed a little too indifferent. It picked up in the 2nd half but idk. Overall very fun time mostly cause it's rare for me to see a new act that I care about these days. It was very new and im happy to have done it, but I feel like the whole thing lacked something. Poppy being poppy and poppy looking like she doesn't care is a very thin line.
Is it true/did you notice that she lip-syncs almost everything during her performance? I think that would deter me from seeing her in person honestly.
Hmm that i couldn't tell honestly. I think she was singing? You know with poppy songs, there's a lot of backup vocals, mixes, effects so it's hard to tell, but I'm fairly confident she was singing. Screamed many times. Hell if that's lip synching, then I was fooled
Now THIS is definitely the type of song she needs at her shows. A fast ass punk song to get the energy up. Good stuff
