I’m not a fan of “Flux”. All the songs off the Eat EP should’ve been included on this release in my opinion.
Yeah, I don't know about "Flux," the vocal mix sounds off in the chorus. Song isn't really my speed, but the screams are good as ever. Really love "Her."
I kinda wish Flux did more, best part is the end half. It's not bad but I just kinda wanted more out of it considering it's Poppy
Flux is definitely underwhelming (and chorus vox are definitely mixed weirdly) but I'm liking it. Excited for her to try some new things.
I like Flux more than Her but again it's a little disappointing compared to the Eat EP, felt like she really nailed her sound on that so I'm a bit sad she's already moving away from it.
I wasn't really too impressed with 'Her' but 'Flux' is AWESOME. However, like others have said, the vocals are very dry on this new track. Sounds like there aren't any harmonies or stereo tracks on the verses, just a whisper double. The Chorus has a single harmony, but there isn't delay or reverb to let it settle into the mix. The mids also sound very honky, and there isn't as much presence as I'd expect from a mix in 2020. I have the feeling it's a creative decision, because this whole album seems to have a 90's aesthetic, but it's definitely not a very modern sounding mix.
Flux is fine, once the screams kicked in I was on board. Not sure it has any business being 5 minutes long though. But anyway, hell yeah so glad she's got a new album coming already.
Not sure that it’s the mix on Flux that’s bothering me. She doesn’t have a powerful voice, so it sound like she’s really pushing during it. I like that she’s branching out and taking more risks though. Neither song does much for me
Im definitely down with the sound of Her and Flux. Poppy made it pretty clear I believe that her next full length will not be leaning anymore into the heavy metal space. These songs got me pumped, the EP was a nice goodbye to the heavier stuff.
