The song on its own doesn’t even come close to how insufferable the music video is. It’s like an infatuated college freshman’s video project.

 

Don't know if this is the correct place, but I quite like that new Chapel song. Considering both members were in post-hardcore bands, I thought it was surprisingly cool.

I've been real critical of the angry/boring pop mess that eminem has become, but adding Ed Sheeran to the mix is gonna sell millions of the most boring, pointless song ever made.

honestly I feel like Ed Sheeran could probably getting it to chart more. His fans are going to support everything he does just by seeing the twitter support and being a top artist on Spotify.

 

Probably true. I also noticed that the Eminem + Ed single would complete a triangle of collabs after Walk on Water and Perfect Duet. Weird.

i dont think kpop ever gets talked about here but one of the great kpop idols tragically passed away last night, he made such a huge impact in the scene as the main singer of his group shinee and was really blossoming into a well respected solo singer. it'd be nice if more people became familiar with some of the work he did and i figure some people here might enjoy some of his music.

I never got that impression from her. The things POC have been doing for decades is trendy now, so it’s hard to tell who wants to be brown (kylie) and who’s just trend hopping (Ariana, I’d wager)

 

speaking of ariana her version of "santa tell me" just shot up to being the number one song in korea right now, on charts that don't regularly feature non-korean artists (she's the only one currently in the top 50). that's wild.

 

Idk she always has given me ~vibes. Which I know means nothing lol, but her hood love, her ridic tanning... Something with her has always made me go hmmmmm. I feel like she was even putting on a bit of an accent there for a sec

 

I think she just toured in Korea, tho there's probably some other factors for that level of success

 

Ari definitely does the Rita Ora thing of using being tan to seem ethnically ambiguous, I mean it takes a lot of stretching for me to find pop stars who have avoided cultural appropriation unfortunately, always been part of the problem with being a pop fan, Gwen Stefani has been doing it for 20 years

 

what about maybe a Nazi supporter Taylor Swift?

 

Probably wouldn't even call it trend hopping, people her age basically grew up in a youth culture that has been like 95% shaped by hip hop. I mean I don't know her but that's what I'd guess.
